Hello Fellow Bibliophiles & Book Clubbers!
BOOK CLUB BUZZ
As the days shorten and the weather grows cold, we find ourselves yearning for a good read, and a challenging conversation around the table. This month we started our online book club using Skype, from the comfort of our living rooms, and after figuring out the technology we jumped into the ideas of what constitutes a perfect society in “The Giver” by Lois Lowry.
I was inspired by the “clubbers” open and lively discussion, and passion for literary ideas. Identifying with characters in “ The Giver”, allowed us to share from the heart what ritual means to us on a personal basis, and how much freedom is too much or too little. I am thankful that we could dig deeper into literature to understand society from a global and Christian context.
At our next meeting I would like to encourage one of our clubbers to send in a short book review to be added to our newsletter for next month.
Our next book club read is Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
