Gold Fever Hits Vancouver Island

by Trish Ensing

As aptly put by Yukon Dan himself, “Gold Fever will be had by all!!”  Children and parents alike had much fun panning for gold on during Yukon Dan’s interesting and informative presentations.  Dan’s passion for the discovery of gold shone through during his 2 hour sessions.  He held the interest and built up excitement in the students as they learned the best way and places to pan for gold.  Each participant had the opportunity to pan for gold and it was fun to see the wonder in their eyes as they discovered the glimmering gold sitting in the bottom of the pans as they carefully washed away the rocks and sand.  Then they were able to look at the gold up close and personal with Dan’s high powered magnifiers.  He then showed them where they could find gold today on Vancouver Island (you’ll have to have him come to your area to find out where you too can find gold....) and how to successfully look for it.  Gold Fever lives on!!!
