March Memorization Musings
by Charlotte Stace
Greetings Memorizers! Spring break has arrived, but I encourage you not to take a total break from memorizing; at a minimum, keep reviewing your verses, or use this opportunity
to catch up if you have fallen behind in your schedule.
In the day-to-day toil of memorizing and reviewing, it is so easy to forget the big picture! What is the big picture? You are implanting God’s Word in yours/your children’s minds. God’s Word, which is living and active Hebrews 4:12); endures forever 1 Peter 1:25; achieves God’s purposes (Isaiah 55:11) ; causes faith to grow (Romans 10:17), (Romans 10:17), teaches, trains, and equips (2 Tim 3:16, 17) is being allowed to take residence in yours/your children’s lives! You being equipped with the Sword of the Lord! Wow!!! The act of memorizing is so much bigger than those verses literally seep from your brain into your heart and they are branded in your heart, which transforms you into more of His imagebeing able to say the words on the paper! It is a vital part in the discipleship of your family. Do not grow weary in well-doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not! (Galatians 6:9)
Here is some encouragement from a fellow-memorizer, Gary Smalley. He says, ‘This concept of memorizing His Word and meditating on it every day is literally transforming my life in so many different ways, I wish I could share with you some of the testimonies of what has happened to me over the last 6 years. When you memorize one of God’s laws, one of his sections of scripture, if you meditate on it day and night that means you are using your mind, you are thinking; so it’s like you are being transformed by the renewing of your mind the more you meditate on His Word. Then those verses literally seep from your brain into your heart and they are branded in your heart, which transforms you into more of His image.

Let your teacher know how your children are doing in achieving their goals for the HCOS Memorization Challenge. Now is the time to revamp your goal if you need to. June 11 is the deadline for saying all the verses in one sitting to a non-family member and reporting it to your teacher.
Remember the Big Picture! Keep on pressing on!
